NOTE: Usually, these indicators are used to clue the middle letter of a word with an odd number of letters. I have also seen them used to indicate the middle two letters of a word with an even number of letters, and even occasionally to clue all letters in a word but the first and last (which is also covered by the indicators on the “Delete the Outer Letters” list).
